In 1877, Paul McCormick came to Junction City and opened a merchandise store. 'His general merchandise and freighting business extended far north and south of the little town' - See 'Old McCormick Home in Junction City Served As Social Center', Billings Gazette, December 4, 1932. William Donovan and Charles Spear owned a grocery store in Billings in the 1890s. The Donovan-McCormick Hardware Company operated in the early 1900s.
